Start with the original
Company documents establish what a company announced. Historical records establish what happened. Neither automatically proves a future performance claim.
03The source desk
A claim is only as useful as the evidence behind it. Here is the source register, how we use it, and where the record has changed.
Our editorial method
Company documents establish what a company announced. Historical records establish what happened. Neither automatically proves a future performance claim.
A reported claim stays reported when its primary source cannot be read. An inaccessible post is marked as such, even if another publication quotes it.
Publication dates and check dates answer different questions. A check date records our review; it does not make a source newly published or a claim independently verified.
Material changes receive a dated correction on the original entry. Targets, reporting, open questions and fictional illustrations keep distinct labels.

Mercedes-Benz Groupcompany history
Read directly during this review; historical evidence, not a current vehicle specification.
Tesla Investor Relationscompany statement
Historical company source retained. Fresh reader requests timed out; direct HTML retrieval yielded no readable article. The publication date was not verified in this review.
NASAagency history
Read directly during this review; historical evidence, not a current vehicle specification.
Not a Tesla Appnews
Read directly during this review; historical evidence, not a current vehicle specification.
Tesla Investor Relationscompany statement
Read the shareholder letter directly: historical next-generation Roadster targets, not measured results.
Teslacompany terms
Read US reservation terms directly. No publication date displayed; region-specific agreement.
Electreknews
Web reader failed; article HTML read directly via HTTPS. Publisher local date is October 13; structured UTC publication timestamp is October 14. Reports Tesla livestream timing; the company post was inaccessible.
Tesla on Xcompany statement
Direct request returned 403. Timing is attributed through Electrek; this post is not treated as directly verified.
Teslacompany statement
Read directly via the official master-plans index. The previous blog URL redirected to the news index. Historical strategy, not a current product commitment.
Teslacompany statement
Read directly. Tesla’s About and master-plans index were also checked: their current heading describes a world of amazing abundance. This plan states sustainable-abundance ambitions and explicitly traces the first step to Roadster; it does not endorse this project.
Teslacompany page
Direct HTML and public /api/livestream read. Title, October 15 date, 19:55 time and URL match. Metadata says CST; client code interprets the time with DST-aware CST6CDT. No UTC instant is asserted by this archive. Its current social poster was also inspected as a partial 2026 teaser reference, not a complete vehicle design.
Teslacompany page
Direct public JSON read: eventStartDate 2026-10-15, eventStartTime 19:55, title Roadster. This is public event metadata, not authenticated administration data.
Teslacompany page
Direct public client read: renderContent uses moment.tz(eventStartDate + T + eventStartTime, CST6CDT). This explains daylight-aware countdown interpretation but conflicts with literal CST wording in page metadata.
United States Patent and Trademark Officepatent record
Direct Gazette read: Tesla assignee; application 18/415,094 filed January 17, 2024; January 17, 2023 provisional priority; 15 claims.
United States Patent and Trademark Officepatent document
Direct USPTO PDF obtained and scanned pages visually read: cover, Figure 2, specification columns 1–4 and claims. Four fans are one embodiment; claims permit one or more fans. No Roadster implementation or flight capability is established.
Tesla Investor Relationscompany filing
Read the Tesla-hosted interview transcript directly. Page 2 dates the interview to October 19, 2025; pages 7 and 18 discuss Roadster ambitions and the wait. The interview date is not treated as the filing publication date. The remarks do not announce a replacement product name, verified performance or a delivery commitment.
TESLARATInews
Joey Klender article read directly. It attributes the October 1 to October 15 presentation change to forecast severe weather and the outdoor-only event. Original Tesla X post returned 403; the reason remains attributed reporting, not direct company verification.
Teslacompany image
Direct JPEG read and visual inspection. The official livestream HTML and public configuration point to this image. A dark partial form, wide red light strip and four bright plumes are visible; a complete vehicle body and the mechanism are not established. No publication date is supplied.
02A record that can improve
No public correction inbox is currently provided. The correction record below remains available to read.
This date records our direct image review, not its publication. The homepage now uses an explicitly labelled AI interpretation of this partial teaser; the 2017 prototype render stays in the historical sections.
This date records our direct source review; Tesla’s page displays no publication date. Earlier reports that the direct viewing link was unavailable are superseded.
Superseded by a direct review of Tesla’s livestream page and public configuration: the viewing URL and October 15 date are confirmed. CST wording still conflicts with the countdown’s daylight-aware US Central interpretation.
Corrected the article publication date from September 15 to September 12. October 1 is retained as the original event date; current reporting refers to October 15.
Removed the unsupported reopening date and reservation amount. This date records our terms review; the document has no displayed publication date.
Historical context added after reviewing the article. The original Tesla post was inaccessible; the weather reason remains attributed reporting. Earlier countdown estimates are superseded by the reviewed livestream record, whose timezone inconsistency is retained.
